Research

A Mathematical Statistician by training,  I have been working on topics of Dimension Reduction since I started my research career. In these pages, I will give an overview of the research I have done and the research I am still doing. An overview can be summarized as follows:

  • I am working on the predictive potential of unsupervised dimension reduction techniques, like Principal Component Analysis (and variations of it), in regression and classification (supervised) settings
  • I am working on topics of Sufficient Dimension Reduction (a supervised dimension reduction framework) where I have spent most of my efforts so far.
  • I am working for unsupervised and supervised dimension reduction for tensors and time series
  • I am working on variable selection methods and especially variable selection methods.
  • I am working on new classification methods using variants of Support Vector Machines
  • I am working collaboratively with people in other sciences as well. Most of my efforts are with people in the Medical sector but I from time to time I work with people in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Archaeology and many more.
